課程概述

Seminar in Public Policy is a course provided by Department of Political Science for Ph. D. Program students. It is an optional course to take comprehensive exam.
This course is weekly arranged a theme to be discussed with participants and assigned a paper for students to read. During the process of course, the teacher will explain the contents and its concepts usefully to analyze Taiwan’s social situation. The course also encourages students to dialogue and discuss together. 

課程目標
The core purposes of this seminar are:
1.to cultivate students to construct policy problems;
2.to deeply understand the ways of agenda setting and its basic principles;
3.to recognize the essence of policy design and the ways to create policy alternatives to address problems;
4.to learn the strategy to legalize policy and get the status to be implemented;
5.to utilize effective policy tools to transform abstract policy into specific policy behavior;
6.to evaluate what is going on about policy implementation and what are the performance of public policy;
7.to prepare the necessary policy change for its survival.
 
課程要求
1.To study the readings assigned by weekly;
2.To summarize the readings and share with other students;
3.To participate class discussion focusing on the topic of the week;
4.To propose an outline for doing term paper;
5.To submit final term paper.
